BIG thank you! And a humble request :-)

First of all: a HUGE thank you for bringing one of my best childhood gaming memories back to life in an extraordinarily beautiful game. Words really cannot express the happiness it brings me to revisit and play.

Also I love the intro - if I am not mistaken, it is very much inspired by another of my historic favorite games - Mechwarrior 2? :-) Nice touch!

As stated in the subject, I have a humble request. I am using the split cursor blocks for controlling my Cobra. But at their current position, they are easiest reach with my thumbs, and I prefer using the index fingers which is a bit awkward. So an option to place them in the vertical middle of the screen would be awesome. Then the other buttons could be aligned at the top, since they are really IMHO secondary to the movement controls. As illustrated here: http://i.imgur.com/BPaEAKD.jpg

I look forward to be able to peek inside the source code - again: You have done an amazing job. Thank you. :-)

Thanks!

Hi,

thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you like the game!

Yep: MW2 is indeed the inspirational source of the intro. Played that game back then and always dreamed of making a similar game (quality wise).

As for your request: It isn't too hard to implement, I think, but you must not forget the 'cycle' buttons, once you have more equipment (Energy Bomb, Escape Capsule, Intergal. Hyperdrive). They might collide if arranged like you picture it.
This weekend, I'll focus on getting the source up and afterwards, if I find some time, I'll give your idea a shot (no promises, though: time is limited :))

I promise I won't hold my breath :-) I know how it is with hobby projects. Just glad that you'll try.

Implemented

Hi,

just to let you know: I have implemented your button configuration. I need to test it some more, but so far, things are looking ok.

As you can see, the "top/down" buttons are a little too far to the right and the spacing between the "top row buttons" is a little too wide; those details will be addressed, of course.

I will upload an update as soon as I am satisfied with all tests (there are some more minor changes). Probably this weekend. Sorry it took so long :)

Cheers!
